Get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Come and lap up the fresh air, fresh food and most importantly fresh vibes of island life. Gozo is the smaller, more laid back and better looking neighbour of Malta. It’s what makes it such an instagrammable place, just remember to pack your best #hashtags. Its rural settlements are situated between the scenic hills that appear on the national coat of arms, and with a population of only 31,000 people you will have plenty of space and then some.

WHERE ARE THE INSTAGRAM WORTHY SPOTS?

ĠGANTIJA

XAGĦRA

This UNESCO world heritage site has two temples that were built between 3600 and 3200BC. It’s believed to have been built by a race of giants – because who else could move blocks that exceed 5m in length weigh over 50 tons?

CITADEL

VICTORIA

Located in the capital Victoria, the Citadel is visible from almost every point on the island. It was used as a sanctuary after the Great Siege of 1565. Knights fortified the Citadel and the population was required to spend their nights inside for safety until as late as 1637. When you visit it’s like stepping back in time.

SALTPANS

ŻEBBUĠ

3km of the north coast is covered in 350-year-old saltpans. They are still in use and during the summer months you can see workers scraping the salt crystals that are then stored and processed in caves that have been carved into the coastal rock

WHERE'S THE BEACH?

RAMLA IL-HAMRA

XAGĦRA

If you’re looking for a place to swim, snorkel and sunbathe is this it. The whole beach is covered in red sand and the fertile sand dunes and terraced walls that local farmers built surround the bay offering a remarkable backdrop.

MARSALFORN

ŻEBBUĠ

A relaxing stroll along the seafront is just what the doctor ordered. This small-pebbled beach is found along the promenade providing a pleasant walk all year round. Rocks along either side provide more space for sunbathing and you can paddle out to sea when you want to cool off.

BLUE LAGOON

COMINO

Just a 15-minute speedboat ride from Mgarr Harbour the Blue lagoon is situated between the island of Comino and the islet of Cominotto. It offers crystal clear water and a white sandy bottom that’s perfect for a dip and is an excellent spot for a scenic walk.

Rdum il-Qammieh
